The annual World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences congress brings together multidisciplinary stakeholders from academia, industry, government, and non-profit sectors under one roof to advance the 3Rs—to reduce, refine, and replace the use of animals in the life sciences.
Application Scientist, Charlie Modlin presented his poster ‘How to assess the risk of chemicals causing skin sensitisation without using animals: the role that in silico tools play’ under the theme 21st Century Predictive Toxicology. In addition, Principal Scientist, Robert Foster presented a talk titled ‘Incorporating in silico methods into genotoxicity risk assessment: moving beyond mutagenicity.’
Dr. Anax Oliveira, Director of Science and Dr. Ioannis Xanthis, Senior Application Scientist provided an overview of using adverse outcome pathways to contextualise data, in order to make complex endpoint safety assessment decisions, as an alternative to animal testing during the World Café sponsored by Unilever. They also provided a demonstration to show how Kaptis, our software solution, can support that.
