We were excited to attend UKEMS annual meeting which was held at the Clontarf Castle Hotel, Dublin from 2nd – 5th July!
UKEMS, as the UK branch of the European Environmental Muta-Genesis Society (EEMGS), exists to serve those scientists working in the UK in the area of DNA damage and mutations caused by environmental agents (i.e. chemicals and radiation). It encompasses academic research into the mechanisms and consequences of mutagenesis, and applications of this knowledge to the testing of novel pharmaceutical, industrial and agricultural chemicals for genotoxic effects.
The event included sessions on cell models and animal replacement, industrial gentotoxicity and more. Lhasa Limited Principal Scientist, David Ponting presented a talk titled, ‘Where should we draw the lines? Leveraging SAR to support complex nitrosamine potency assessment’.
