Lhasa Limited expands Vitic Complex Nitrosamines Database with new data

Lhasa Limited is excited to announce the latest update to the Vitic Complex Nitrosamines database. This pre-competitive data sharing initiative promotes the anonymous exchange of genetic toxicology data on structurally complex nitrosamines, primarily Ames data.

The initiative provides access to a chemically diverse dataset, facilitating the identification of trends in mutagenic activity associated with specific chemical features. This, in turn, enhances the understanding of structure-activity relationships (SAR) for the nitrosamines class.

New data release

The Vitic Complex Nitrosamines 2025.1.0 database update includes:
• 340 new data records, increasing the total to 4,192.
• 10 new substances, bringing the total to 136.

Genetic toxicity data records

The database now contains 3,991 genetic toxicity in vitro data records, predominantly bacterial mutagenicity records on 131 substances. The new data contributes to increased compound coverage and an expanded strain and metabolic activation profile for previously covered compounds, in line with the enhanced Ames test conditions for N-nitrosamines.
Another asset of this database update lies in the significant growth of the genetic toxicity in vivo dataset. In vivo compound coverage has doubled (from 11 to 22), and the dataset size has increased by 47% (from 38 to 72 study records). This includes key data for mutagenic potency characterisation, such as transgenic rodent and duplex sequencing mutation assay data.

How the Vitic Complex Nitrosamines data sharing initiative works

Consortium members securely contribute data from their internal portfolios or generate new data to support the development of more accurate predictions for this high-concern chemical class. The shared data aids in refining and validating the SAR model for predicting the mutagenic activity of nitrosamines, while also preventing duplication to reduce testing efforts and supporting members in their regulatory submissions.

Our systematic peer-review process ensures access to an anonymised high-quality dataset from the data donated by participating organisations within industry.
